Title: On p-adic differential equations with separation of variables.

Citation: The computation of a power series solution of a given ordinary differential equation is a basic problem in computer algebra. For a first-order ordinary differential equation with separation of variables and with p-adic coefficients, the authors of this paper give an optimal bound on the stability of the Newton iteration. The result applies to algorithms for manipulating algebraic numbers over finite fields, for computing isogenies between elliptic curves, and for deterministically finding roots of polynomials in finite fields.

Distinguished Student Author Award

There have been two distinguished student author awards at ISSAC'2016.

Sponsored by SIGSAM.

Distinguished Poster Award

This year, the poster presentation committee decided on two distinguished posters

Each selected poster was awarded with 125 EUR from Fachgruppe Computeralgebra and a Maple product licence from Maplesoft.

Distinguished Software Demonstration Award

This year, the software presentation committee decided to hand out two awards.

Each selected software presentation was awarded with 125 EUR from Fachgruppe Computeralgebra and a Maple product licence from Maplesoft.

Distinguished Female Student Award

Two awards have been given to distinguished female students at ISSAC 2016.

Each winner received 250 CAD. The prize money was donated by the Centre for Women in Science at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo.
